I am really new to the Yoga and Pilates scene, but the exercises that I have been doing to strengthen and tone my body lately have both mixed into them. The workouts I do are part of the Fè Fit series and they seem to be a well balanced mix of all kinds of workout programs. I am really loving the series and seeing results, but over time I have discovered that I need to get the appropriate equipment to do the workouts more effectively. One item that I didn't have was yoga socks. Yoga socks are designed to keep your feet from slipping on the ground. Uniqee has provided me with a four pack of their toeless yoga socks in exchange for my honest opinion. I have received no other compensation for this review.
These socks are made out of 82% combed cotton and 18% spandex. They have little silicone dots on the bottom of them to keep your feet from slipping. The dots are not too big so they don't hurt your feet to walk around on them. Actually, I think the little dots feel like they are massaging the bottom of my feet when I m walking around. I really enjoy the feel of them.
They are an open toed design. This is to help you have more control over your feet and the poses you hold while wearing them. You can grip with your toes, as well as spread them and stretch them. I know I use my toes to keep my balance for nearly everything. I actually like working out in my bare feet instead of wearing shoes because I can control my balance better that way. These socks let me workout with minimal covering on my feet and still try to maintain my balance. While using them, I can do aerobics, pilates, yoga, straight cardio, and squats. I used them on my carpet which does still work. You don't slide around on carpet as much as you do in shoes or bare feet when you wear them, but they are more meant for a more solid floor. They work great on my kitchen floor and will work on tile and hardwood. You can wear them to do pretty much anything. I can see them being great for dancing.
They are open on the top which I assume is to help keep your feet from getting too hot. It helps make them a more universal size meaning that they are supposed to fit women's sizes 5-10. My feet are somewhere between 8.5 and 9 so they are a little stretched over my feet, but there is a little room to stretch to the next size. The only issue I have had with the socks is that after exercising for a while, they creep up between my toes giving my toes "wedgies". All you have to do it pull them down a little, but it can be a little uncomfortable. Otherwise, I love the mobility and the control I have over my feet while exercising in them.
