With simple text and 16 colorful illustrations.

The story is suitable as a read aloud book for preschoolers or a self-read book for beginner readers.

Review: This is a cute book that shows how a girl's imagination can take her far away. It's a rainy day and she imagines going some place that is warm all year round, i.e. some place tropical. She make a new friend on her island adventure and learns a few things about sea creatures, beaches, and culture. My son seemed to enjoy it, but he didn't really understand that Abigail was able to travel across the ocean with her magical bicycle. He understands magic and make believe, but after reading this he insisted on riding his bike and got upset when he didn't magically go somewhere. Then all he could talk about was getting his own magical bike for his birthday. He's four. He really liked learning about seashells and where pearls come from though. Overall a cute entertaining story for children.

#BookReview: Mini Myths about Midas and Medusa by Joan Holub & Leslie Patricelli #MDBookReviews

Brush Your Hair, Medusa

Title: Brush Your Hair, Medusa!
Series: Mini Myths Board Book
Author: Joan Holub
Publisher: Harry N. Abrams; Brdbk edition
Description: Medusa refuses to care for her hair, her long locks getting knottier and dirtier with each passing page. Her hair rebellion elicits frozen expressions of shock from her family, but nothing will convince Medusa to brush. Only her hairdresser approaches Medusa with bravery and a blade, successfully solving the problem . . . with a short haircut! All are pleased with this drastic yet adorable solution. Leslie Patricelli’s depictions of this physical comedy bring a lively visual narrative to Joan Holub’s expertly focused text. Includes a summary of the original Medusa’s Wild Hair myth at the end.

Review: This was such a cute book. My daughter loved it. It has sparked a sudden interest in board books for her. I was able to read it, but mostly she likes to flip the pages and point at stuff. I tell her what it is she is pointing too and then she moves on to another page. I really liked how the story basically says that if a kid won't let you take care of their hair, you just might cut it all off. This is something that my mom and I both feel very strongly about. I have a niece that hates to brush her hair. If she were my daughter, I would chop it all off until she was willing to actually brush it. It seems like the most logical way to stop the agony of brushing out tangles. Wonderful book!

Make a Wish, Midas!

Title: Make a Wish, Midas!
Series: Mini Myths Board Book
Author: Joan Holub
Publisher: Harry N. Abrams; Brdbk edition
Description: Midas wants everything to be his favorite color—yellow! He chooses yellow clothes, eats yellow foods, and uses only the yellow paint at his easel. But when he impulsively paints his beloved green Dinoboo, Midas discovers that too much of a good thing is a big mess! Joan Holub’s carefully crafted text is brought to life by Leslie Patricelli’s famously humorous illustrations. Includes a summary of the original Midas’s Wish myth at the end.

Make a Wish, Midas! 1
Make a Wish, Midas! 2

Review: This story was loved by both of my kids. I was only able to take pictures of my daughter looking at it, but my son had me read it to him three times in a row. This story is all about how much Midas loves the color yellow and how he wants everything to be yellow. Well he did until he painted his favorite Lovey yellow and realized that his stuffed animal just wasn't the same that way. Luckily, his mom is able to wash his stuffed animal to turn him from yellow back to green. My son loved this because his favorite color is orange. He is always asking me to make things orange. When I pointed out to him that some things are better left the way they are, he seemed to actually understand that. I haven't had to argue with him as much about things being orange lately. If I buy something new for him, he will ask me to buy an orange one, but we don't have to try to change its color. Another wonderful book!

#BookReview: Loved by the Alpha by Michele Bardsley

Loved by the alpha

Title: Loved By The Alpha
Series: The Pack Rules, Book 5
Author: Michele Bardsley
Publisher: A Freeman Werewolf Shifter Romance Serial
Description: Shadow Pack Rules: Part Five (Loved by the Alpha)
Part Five in the Five-Part Alpha Werewolf Romance Serial
By New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Michele Bardsley

Every 20 years, the Shadow Pack arrives in the small desert community of Bleed City, Nevada. To honor the pact made 150 years ago with the werewolves, the town offers up their eldest daughters for the Choosing--a ceremony where the shifters pick their virgin brides. Like most werewolf packs, the Shadows need human females for mating and breeding so they can replenish their werewolf bloodlines.

Arabelle "Belle" Winton is the new bride of Greyson "Grey" Burke, the Shadow Pack's very sexy alpha. Belle has been rescued from the Blood Pack's vengeful beta. Now she and Grey must deal with a devastating betrayal within the Shadow Pack--and hurry to save the werewolves and humans trapped in Bleed City. It will be the ultimate test of their faith in their friends...and in each other.

Please note: This is the fifth and final part of The Pack Rules, a five-part alpha werewolf romance serial. These stories are meant to be read in order, so please start with Shadow Pack Rules: Part One (Chosen by the Alpha). Thank you.

Review: There was a shift in feelings in this book in my opinion. Not that you don't think Belle will love the alpha, but rather her feelings change from being attracted to him and tolerating her situation to one of complete acceptance. It wasn't unexpected, but it felt sudden. Actually everything about the entire five book plot is sudden. I liked that because I wanted a story that I could actually put down while taking care of my kids but left ,e feeling satisfied with my knowledge of what was going on. This book delivered that. You get the final installment of the conspiracy in this book and get to experience what Belle is willing to go through for her husband. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't want to give too much away of the plot because this really is the summation of everything. This series is available as a single book. Seeing that I had to have the next one as soon as I finished reading the previous one, I think the complete series is a must have before you even start reading it.

#BookReview: Rescued By the Alpha by Michele Bardsley

Rescued by the Alpha

Title: Rescued By The Alpha
Series: The Pack Rules, Book 4
Author: Michele Bardsley
Publisher: A Freeman Werewolf Shifter Romance Serial
Description: Shadow Pack Rules: Part Four (Rescued by the Alpha)
Part Four in the Five-Part Alpha Werewolf Romance Serial
By New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Michele Bardsley

Every 20 years, the Shadow Pack arrives in the small desert community of Bleed City, Nevada. To honor the pact made 150 years ago with the werewolves, the town offers up their eldest daughters for the Choosing--a ceremony where the shifters pick their virgin brides. Like most werewolf packs, the Shadows need human females for mating and breeding so they can replenish their werewolf bloodlines.

Arabelle "Belle" Winton is now the mate of Greyson "Grey" Burke, the Shadow Pack's very sexy alpha. But Belle has been imprisoned, imputed for murder by Neela, the enforcer leader and the woman scorned by Grey. And now, she's been kidnapped, handed over to the Blood Pack as penance for the murder of one of their own. But there's far more at stake than a simple blood-for-blood revenge scheme. The whole world of the werewolves teeters on the brink of war ... and Belle must figured out how to survive long enough to warn Grey about the impending attack...

Please note: This is the fourth part of The Pack Rules, a five-part alpha werewolf romance serial. These stories are meant to be read in order, so please start with Shadow Pack Rules: Part One (Chosen by the Alpha). Thank you.

Review: In an extreme twist, Belle is broken out of prison by Grey's Beta who was standing guard. The problem is that he broke her out in order to kidnap her and take her to someone that wants her dead. In book one, Belle kills a starving werewolf in her own self-defense. It's a pretty amazing feat for a human to kill a werewolf which is what earned her Grey's respect and marriage proposal. Well now Belle has been turned over to another werewolf pack to serve a different murder sentence. Grey's beta felt that it was right to turn her over to the other pack to serve justice for losing one of their own. There's a lot more conspiracy to it and you will learn a little about the rival pack in the process. What amazes me is that we learn how much of a survivor Belle is. One of the lines I liked the best was Grey saying that it is really hard to be the hero when she keeps saving herself. That obviously is not the exact words, but you get the idea. She's a survivor and worthy to be the alpha's mate. The story ends with them discovering a plot that goes into the Shadow Pack's enforcer unit and could endanger everyone.

#BookReview: Ruled By The Alpha by Michele Bardsley

Ruled by the alpha

Title: Ruled By The Alpha
Series: The Pack Rules, Book 3
Author: Michele Bardsley
Publisher: A Freeman Werewolf Shifter Romance Serial
Description: Shadow Pack Rules: Part Three (Ruled by the Alpha)
Part Three in the Five-Part Alpha Werewolf Romance Serial

The murder charge relies heavily on circumstantial evidence--and the surprise witness testimony of another werewolf bride from Bleed City. But Neela is pushing hard for Belle's conviction--and swift death sentence.

Then Bleed City's Elder, the liaison between the humans and werewolves, calls for a tribunal. Three alphas from three other packs will arrive at the Shadow Pack's desert compound to hear evidence and testimony. The good news is that the tribunal requires strident, irrefutable proof of crimes against the pack before issuing a guilty verdict. The bad news is that Neela seems willing to do about anything to ensure Belle is convicted...

Please note: This is the third part of The Pack Rules, a five-part alpha werewolf romance serial. These stories are meant to be read in order, so please start with The Pack Rules 1: Chosen by the Alpha. Thank you.
Review: Belle has been arrested for murder, a murder that she knows she didn't commit and Grey feels she couldn't have done either. However, Grey can't speak against his lead enforcer who claims to have evidence to support her claim. Seeing that other enforcers have shown up to take Belle away, Grey allows for her to be imprisoned, but on his terms. Since they are in the midst of their honeymoon, her jail cell is turned into a luxury suite where the two of them will continue to consummate their marriage until Belle is freed. Grey gives us a little more information as to why he can't just drop the charges against her, but we learn from his beta wolves that her accuser has not been deemed unbiased enough to conduct the investigation. Her accuser is a rare female born werewolf who was once Grey's lover. Her jealousy of Belle is more than a little evident.

What I really liked was that we get to see Belle start to open up to Grey sexually. Since she was a virgin, she knows nothing about the way of making love, and there's no better time to discover it than with your husband locked in a jail cell. There's really not a lot else to do. During this time, she evens starts to think that maybe this arranged marriage could be a good thing. The story ends with a twist that you will never see coming.

#BookReview: Taken by the Alpha by Michele Bardsley

Title: Taken By The Alpha
Series: The Pack Rules, Book 2
Author: Michele Bardsley
Publisher: A Freeman Werewolf Shifter Romance Serial
Description: Shadow Pack Rules: Part Two (Taken by the Alpha)
Part Two in the Five-Part Alpha Werewolf Shifter Romance Serial
by New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Michele Bardsley

Every 20 years, the Shadow Pack arrives in the small desert community of Bleed City, Nevada. To honor the pact made 150 years ago with the werewolves, the town offers up their eldest daughters for the Choosing--a ceremony where the shifters pick their virgin brides. Like most werewolf packs, the Shadows need human females for mating and breeding so they can replenish their werewolf bloodlines.

Arabelle "Belle" Winton, willing or not, has been chosen by the Shadow Pack's alpha as his mate. Even though alpha Greyson Burke made certain every werewolf within Bleed City's borders knows without question that Belle belongs to him, she still has to go through the ceremony of the Choosing.

It's not that she minds the ritual so much as what will happen afterwards: The alpha will take her. Her virginity, to be exact. Her husband-to-be has let her know that their first mating will be nothing short of animalistic. She doesn't know if that terrifies her--or thrills her.

If being mated to the alpha wasn't life-changing enough, Arabelle must also deal with a vindictive new enemy, Neela, the leader of the pack enforcers and Grey's former lover. And things go from bad to worse when newly mated Belle is accused of murder...

Review: After reading book one, I had to know what was going to happen next between Belle and Grey, the Shadow Pack alpha. Grey marked Belle as being his before she went to The Choosing so that no other werewolf would dare try to claim her for their bride. It really wasn't something to worry about though since the alpha picks his mate first and he didn't give the other werewolves a chance to even consider Belle. In this book we learn how The Choosing really works and get to experience Belle's first time with a man and also what it is like for a werewolf to attempt to not let his wolfish nature take over during it. Grey proves to be a gentlemanly as he can be, but you are left wondering if Belle will be able to open her heart to him now that they are essentially married. She has a lot to learn about werewolf dynamics and their laws which is proven when she ends up arrested for murder during their honeymoon.
