Monday Motif: Interview with Fate's Design author Lola James #FMBTours

Fate's Design 1

Welcome to the Fate's Design tour with Full Moon Bites. I read this book a while ago for another tour group and wrote a review HERE. My review included an interview that is very much about the story itself, so when this tour came up, I decided to ask Lola James some questions that surround her future works (in case you are confused by my interview below). I hope you enjoy it and are intrigued enough to check out all of Lola's works (Unbound, Bound to Remember, Once Upon a Midnight Dreary [collection of short stories by several authors I love], A VILLAIN'S FATE, A Fate Series Short).

Interview with Fate's Design author Lola James:
  1. Where do you see your Fate series going?

Well without giving much away, some of Megan’s dreams come true and she begins to question those around her.

  2. You recently held a giveaway for a lucky reader to name a character in your next book. What was your motivation behind this giveaway?

Well I wanted to get my readers involved and have a fun contest while doing it. That contest was for another series, Spellbound.
  3. Has the winner decided which God/Goddess will be featured in your next story?

She is going to me a new character and she is going to have ties to my favorite character in that book, Dawn. I can’t say more without giving the story away.

  4. Will the chosen God/Goddess actually be based off of the myths or are you basing the character off of the ideas of the winner?

It’s going to be based of something else. But the next book you will see almost all of the gods and goddess show up at some point.

  5. What other books do you envision in the future? Will you run similar giveaways for those?

I will have another contest like that for the third book of the Fate series.

Review: I could not put this book down for the two days. The description does not indicate to you that there are supernatural beings in the story, but rather that there are supernatural events. I was pleased to discover that you actually encounter the supernatural in it, since I love supernatural. Megan is not an ordinary girl, but she is the ordinary twin. Her sister is the one everyone pays attention to. Flamboyant, girly, and outgoing, that's Morgan. Megan kind of lives in her shadow and is the tag along twin. That's ok for the most part for both of them except that Megan hasn't really fallen in love and her sister falls in and out of love too quickly. Unfortunately, Morgan gets around a little more than she should and that will lead to some interesting situations and to Megan's destiny as well. This book is focused primarily on that, Destiny or Fate. Lola James takes the attitude in this story that everyone has a predetermined fate. If you know your fate, you can change it with minor incidences, but primarily you are stuck. This is where Alexandros comes in. He is messing with Fate the entire story. He knows some of Megan's fate but actually confuses her with Morgan in the start of the story which is one of those minor incidents that just may change Megan's destiny.

There is something of a love triangle...or even a quadrilateral at one time. Ordinary Megan becomes a hot commodity and attracts the attention of two men at first and third for an ever brief moment in time. Megan's dreams, which we learn are more like visions, show her with a gorgeous hunk of a man, but she can't figure out which one. Her dreams shift between the two men she is so completely attracted to, only to find out that a witch has actually been tampering with her dreams. She really has no clue which of her dreams were true visions or someone else's ideas put into her head. This leaves her confused about which man she is really supposed to end up with and if she is messing up her own fate by choosing one or the other. She is told at one point that trying to avoid or change your fate purposely will only lead to disaster and put her right back on course for what was being avoided. A lesson a friend learned the hard way. With the knowledge that some of her visions were real and others figments of another's imagination, she ends the story picking one man and wondering what her future really holds.

Interview with the author, Lola James:
  1. Will we find out anything interesting about Megan's father in the next book? It seems that since Megan is a guardian (as well as her sister), that their father must have been something unique.

Yes, you will find out more about the twins father in book two. I don’t want to give too much away but he was pretty special.
  2. Since we found out that Galena was probably messing with Megan's visions, will we figure out which visions were real and which weren't?

At the end of the book, there was a clue about that when Megan asked Alex a similar question. Book 2, will explain more about her visions, and give a direction as to what she will expect along with the reader.
  3. If I remember correctly, the first vision Megan had about a tall handsome stranger, she never really saw his face. Will we find out if the true person she was fated to be with is really Alex?

Yes, it was hinted at as well but she is trying to defy fate somewhat. The title of book two is Defying Fate if that gives any clue!
  4. I feel like Galena was probably putting Emilian into Megan's head in order to dissuade her from continuing her relationship with Alex. Why would she pick Emilian to be the subject of Megan's "fate" when it appears that she is helping Emilian's sister on the side of evil?

Galena is a special piece of work. LOL She is working on the side of evil but her reasons; well she is in it for something. She wants’ for nothing so it has to be sentimental. I am tightlipped about book two if you haven’t realized.
  5. Is the next story going to be a conclusion or are there several stories being planned out for the series? I am trying to see how many books I need to read to find out how Megan's fate really turns out. ;)

Well, I have planned four books but it may end up being five. The next two books are destined to give a lot of information on Megan’s love life as well as Giovanni’s!
  6. Care to give us a peak at the next book?

Book 2 picks up where book one left off and the big show down that everyone awaits for... And the reads get to see Megan and Alex’s romance bloom! That’s all I’ll say!
