The Marriage Fix 1

The Marriage Fix 2
Title: The Marriage Fix
Series: Billionaire Games, Book 3
Author: Sandra Edwards
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform
Description: Lecie de Laurent is dying to cut the apron strings and strike out on her own. With the house and the money she’s inherited from Edouard Renault, she finally has her chance without financial repercussions from Papa. California is an intoxicating place for the sheltered, high society girl from France, and she’s not ready to leave when her father insists she return home. Lecie’s father, Maurice de Laurent is a powerful man who will stop at nothing to get what he wants–just ask her brothers, Julian and Andre. When Maurice threatens to have Lecie deported (thinking she’ll come home), Lecie retaliates in true de Laurent fashion.

Nick Matthews desperately needs cash, after his fiancée leaves him deeply in debt the day before their wedding. On the verge of losing his popular restaurant, Nick decides to seek out an investor to help pay off the debt.

The answer to both their problems just might be wrapped up in The Marriage Fix.

Review: Book three in the Billionaire Games series is wrapping up the De Laurent family children's marriages. Each book is about one of the children and their problems with the father, Maurice, trying to control their lives. In the first two books, Maurice does his best to force his sons into marriages in order to control them, but in doing so he inadvertently gave his daughter Lecie more freedom than she had ever had. She gained financial independence through her second brother's marriage as well as a house in California, so very far from the French estate the family lived on. Lecie jumped at the chance to go to the states to experience true freedom and adventure, but once she gets there, her father realizes that he has no control over anything she does there. He believes that she still needs to be protected from the world, but Lecie is having too much fun to let him do that. She also has discovered a blooming longing for a certain Nick Matthews who owns a small restaurant only a mile from the home she inherited. Nick is about to get married, leaving Lecie wondering how she will occupy her days once he is no longer available. That is...Until it turns out he is still available. Now Lecie has to find a way to prevent her father from having her deported as well as find a way to keep Nick in her life.

This is a very fast read. Once you have read one of the books in the series, you get a general idea of where the other two are going to go, but the story of how two strangers end up falling in love is well worth reading. The plots are very fast paced, but unlike some books, you won't feel like they end up together without a good reason. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and find myself wondering if the series will extend past the De Laurent children.

The Marriage Caper

The Marriage Caper 2
Title: The Marriage Caper
Series: Billionaire Games, Book 2
Author: Sandra Edwards
Publisher: SE Press
Description: Andre de Laurent is the second son of an extremely wealthy family, which basically means he'll always be number two. That is, until his mother's uncle dies and leaves him a multi-billion-dollar fortune. So what's the trouble? Andre has sixty days to take a wife, and he'll have to remain married for one year or forfeit the inheritance to distant relatives--who are hell-bent on claiming the inheritance as their own.

Aspiring actress Tasha Gordon has never wanted anything quite so much as that big break--until she met Andre de Laurent. Could his offer turn out to be the role of lifetime?

Approximately 50,000 words. About 228 pages.

Review: I absolutely loved the first book in this series and just had to get my hands on this one when a tour for it came around. The first book, The Marriage Bargain, was all about Julian and Camille. Julian is the son of an extremely wealthy man who was being pressured into marriage by said wealthy man. He decided that instead of marrying the woman that his father picked out for him, he would hire a woman to pretend to be his wife. She would carry on the charade for a certain amount of time and then they would divorce. In return for her troubles, she would leave him as a VERY wealthy woman. Well of course love prevails and the two actually fall in love.

This story is about Julian's brother Andre. Andre has never had any real desire to get married until he meets Camille's best friend Tasha at Camille and Julian's wedding. He basically carries on a long distance affair with Tasha while knowing that if he ever were to marry, she was exactly what he wanted. Well Papa is up to his old tricks again. This time Papa doesn't pick a woman to force Andre into marrying, instead he convinces a distant uncle to give everything he owns to Andre upon his death with the stipulation that he must marry within 60 days of the reading of the will and remain married for a whole year. If this was the only stipulation in the will, Andre probably would have said no, but his brother and sister's inheritance also is on the line. He must marry in order for anyone to get anything. Th obvious choice is Tasha, which Papa already knew. His father finds a way to convince Andre that if he were to marry Tasha, he would not be forcing her to give up her dreams or to be in a situation that she doesn't already want. Well Andre immediately leaves France for California to tell Tasha all about the inheritance and to beg her to marry him. However, when he gets to her door he discovers she's pregnant with his child. What happens? Well they decide to get married of course! However, Andre decides to hide the initial reason for his marriage proposal from her, a move that is sure to come back to slap him in the face. What Andre doesn't know is that there is a very distant cousin plotting to destroy his marriage in order for the inheritance to be given to her. How will it turn out? Will Andre marry Tasha and live happily ever after? Will they do something to violate the stipulations of the will, thus losing everything? Read to find out!

Incredible Dreams Excerpt #PromoBookTours

Incredible Dreams 2
Title: Incredible Dreams
Series: A Time Travel Romance
Author: Sandra Edwards
Publisher:
Description: Incredible Dreams is the story of a modern-day ghost whisperer who travels through time to save the life of a WWII fighter pilot and ends up jeopardizing her own existence.

Izzy Miller prefers to call herself a spiritual therapist because she thinks it makes her sound more professional than plain old ghost-whisperer. She expects her latest project to be quick and easy because exorcising military personnel is pretty routine.

But there's nothing easy or routine about Captain Jack Baker—he's a rather forgetful spirit and somewhat mischievous. And even though he's intrigued by the US Government's latest attempt to remove him from the only place he can ever remember being...he has no intentions of going anywhere.

Plans to exorcise Jack are quickly sidelined when Izzy discovers a portal into the past inside her dreams and sets out to change his fate. Trouble is...when she gets back there, she can't remember anything but her name. She still sees ghosts, but is far less accepting of her gift. And, to make matters worse, a demonic force pretending to be the forgetful heroine's sister has her own plans—to steal Izzy's soul.

Excerpt:
Bright lights blazed over her face. The smell of stale ale and cigarettes choked the space around her. She squinted, uncertain of anything but the stage she stood on. A blinding glare silhouetted the smoke-filled room and hid the identities of what she was slowly coming to recognize as an audience.

Music, the tune of a vaguely familiar song, filtered through the air. Lyrics came to her seconds before they poured from her mouth. Nervous at first, she worried the fountain of words would stop as fast as it had begun. When she realized it wouldn’t, a confidence joined the song and bolstered her voice.

When the song ended, Izzy panicked. What did she do now? Where did she go? She started walking, and even though her mind was unable to plot the course, her body knew where to exit the stage and how to get to the bar.

Confusion muddled her thoughts as she glided down the steps and followed a path alongside the audience.

Where the hell am I and what am I doing here? She leaned against the bar and attempted to gain her bearings.

“Miss Miller, what’s your poison?” The bartender’s voice drifted into her thoughts, demanding attention.

My poison? She glanced up, greeted by the barkeep’s charming smile. Well, a drink might help. Couldn’t hurt. “You got any Ouzo?”

“No.” The bartender’s quick and calm reply suggested he knew what she was talking about.

Too bad Izzy didn’t. She had no idea what Ouzo was or where she got the notion to ask for the liquor with the curious name.

“Give me a shot of ta-kill-ya.” There it was again. Oh man... She was starting to get freaked out. Freaked out?

Stop it!

“Tequila?” The bartender asked for clarification.

Izzy tried to hide her frustration. “Yeah.”

The bartender turned away and she tried to recall his name. She studied him as he prepared her drink, thinking she should know him. He knew her.

Chattering voices from nearby conversations made her wonder if she knew anyone else. She canvassed the dimly-lit club. Finely dressed diners sipped on champagne and munched on caviar in candlelit booths. Izzy felt out of place and they seemed retro.

The seconds it took the barkeep to pour the shot and place it before her seemed like hours. “Bottoms up.” He coaxed her with a corrupting smile.

“Ah, what the hell...” She wrapped her fingers around the shot glass. “I’m probably dead anyway.” Tilting her head back, she poured the liquid, warm and stimulating, into her mouth.

“That’s what you said the last time we met.” The voice, smooth and personal, drew her in and tempted her with thoughts of amorous pleasure.

“Excuse me?” The time it took to focus on the silhouetted figure felt like eons instead of seconds. When it did, an odd sense of familiarity rained down on Izzy.

She stared—no, ogled—at the flyer occupying a bar stool a couple of feet away. He was handsome in a rugged sort of way, and far from clean-shaven. The beginnings of a beard, which looked more like two-day stubble, added to his appeal. Eyes glistening like silvery pearls peered at her flirtatiously. When he smiled, Izzy was smitten.

“Do I know you?” Curiosity fueled her interest. She knew him from somewhere but couldn’t place him. Or maybe she wished she knew him. After all, who could’ve forgotten a face as captivatingly handsome as his?

A sharp pain ripped through Izzy’s skull. She grabbed her head, wincing. “Ouch...Jesus!”

She closed her eyes in a futile attempt to expel the suffering from within. Instead of subsiding, it amplified, swelling to intolerable proportions. The agony became too much, all-consuming.

Izzy’s consciousness faded into nothing and she collapsed.

Monday Motif: The Marriage Bargain Review & Interview #PromoBookTours

The Marriage Bargain 2

The Marriage Bargain Picture 1
Title: The Marriage Bargain
Series:
Author: Sandra Edwards
Publisher: Sandra Edwards
Desription: Camille Chandler is a tabloid journalist whose career is right on track–until her boss sees a curious ad in the L.A. Trades.

Wanted: Single actress for an extended gig abroad.

France’s mega-rich playboy Julian de Laurent is up to something and Camille’s boss expects her to find out what. Who knew the eccentric gazillionaire was looking to hire a temporary wife?

When Camille refuses to accept Julian’s proposal–and secretly write a juicy tell-all about the de Laurent family–she’s fired and left financially destitute, forcing her to entertain Julian’s proposal for real. But what’ll happen at the end of the contract period, after Camille has spent six months as the wife of a man she learns is capable of stealing her heart?

Review: What would you do if you had the opportunity to marry a rich and famous person with the agreement that in six months the marriage would be dissolved AND you would become a multimillionaire? Me personally, if I had no other relationship ties, I would so do it. Camille Chandler is put in this exact situation with only one other stipulation. She answers to the wife-seeking ad in order to get a scoop for her magazine. Her dream is to write a column for some prestigious magazine. The problem came when her boss told her to accept the marriage proposal only to get the story and to back out of the arrangement the day before the wedding. Camille has way too much heart to do something so cruel just for a story. However, her boss sees that as an unforgivable flaw for a reporter. Camille quits her job as she is being fired and finds herself blacklisted. Now what should she do?

Camille finds herself agreeing to a marriage of convenience just to keep herself off the streets and to pay her bills. She doesn't expect to actually enjoy having the extra money. She doesn't expect to be attracted to Julian with a fever she doesn't know if she can deny. She also doesn't expect to be competing for his affection with the woman his father intended him to marry. What will happen over the next six months is a mystery. It's a unique story that will have you questioning what you would do to survive. It's very well written with great character development that will leave you wanting to read more of Sandra Edwards's works.

Interview with the author, Sandra Edwards:
  1. Why was Julian so against marrying Madeleine? What history did they have together?

Julian and Madeleine shared a “casual” relationship. When Julian concocted his scheme, he wasn’t interested in marrying anyone. Madeleine was just a casualty of that determination.

  2. Why did Julian's dad feel that it was ok to arrange a marriage for his sons?

Maurice is a very wealthy man who’s used to getting what he wants, and now that he’s retired from the family business he has a little too much time on his hands. Plus, he’s old school. He comes from a time when arranged marriages are the norm among the very wealthy.

  3. Camille really had nothing to lose by marrying Julian, but what gave her the courage to actually do it? How was she able to act so well under all the pressure?

Camille’s motivation is simple. She’s afraid of being homeless. How does she handle the pressure so well? Desperation. lol.

  4. What happened between Tasha and Andre? Why did Tasha leave?

While it's clear in THE MARRIAGE BARGAIN that Tasha and Andre like each other, Tasha left simply because the storyline dictated it. But, because readers have expressed an interest in them, I'm happy to report that Tasha and Andre's story will continue in THE MARRIAGE CAPER.

  5. What would have happened to Julian and Camille's arrangement if she had gotten pregnant?

That would’ve really complicated the situation, and it would’ve been very hard, if not impossible, to wrap the book up in less than 60K words and have the reader feeling satisfied that they were together at the end because they were in love and not because of the baby. 60K words maximum was important because I'd intended this book to be a quick romantic read.

  6. (Shameless plug time!) Tell us what we can expect to see from you in the future!

THE MARRIAGE CAPER will be my next release. Hopefully in time for Christmas!
